AN ACT MAKING AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION OF SPECIAL FUNDS FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEFRAYING THE EXPENSES OF THE MISSISSIPPI STATE BOARD OF OPTOMETRY FOR FISCAL YEAR 1999.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. In addition to all other sums heretofore appropriated, the following sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated out of any money in the State Treasury to the credit of the State Board of Optometry, for the purpose of defraying the expenses of said board for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1999 $ 35,000.00.

SECTION 2. With the funds authorized in this act, the following positions are authorized:

Permanent: Full Time. . . . . . . . . . . . 1

SECTION 3. This additional appropriation is made for the purpose of providing spending authority for the State Board of Optometry to hire administrative personnel and to provide for associated costs to provide assistance to the board in its regulatory responsibilities, as recommended by the PEER Committee's program evaluation report of the State Board of Optometry dated July 14, 1998.

SECTION 4. The money herein appropriated shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the proper fund or funds as set forth in this act, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers in the manner provided by law.

SECTION 5. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
